Bank Woes: Quantum Mechanics vs. Nanotech

Seriously, the banks are complaining because of the rules being imposed on them for credit card statements.

The only question is: should I play my Quantum State violin or my nanotechnology violin? Which one is smaller?

Bank Fees Look Like Thievery

I mean, seriously.

TD wants to charge you $35 when you're not using your line of credit. They call it an "inactivity fee". This can't be anything other than thievery.

Think about it.

You have a credit account set aside for emergencies. You haven't used it in years because things have been going pretty well. You get occasional bank statements telling you that it's at zero balance, right where it should be. You grow complacent in examining those statements, all of them being the same after all. One day, one of those statements has a $35 fee on it, probably being debited from your chequing account very quietly. You don't notice because the account still has a zero balance and the fee is off on a part of the page you don't read anymore.

If you had a choice in this scam and if you were warned you would undoubtedly close the account. But they're going to do it on the sly. They always do it on the sly. I've had it done to me on my investing account with another bank. Now TD will do it on a credit line.

Secret fees to feed the bottom line.

Typical.

Conservatives Tried Subprime

I guess we're just fortunate that we had a Liberal government for all those years that the Americans were desperately trying to loot their economy for the sake of the rich. While they were setting up mortgages to people who had no business having mortgages, we had a Liberal government that wasn't letting that happen in Canada.

We did manage to get a Conservative government in 2006 and they did their best to completely ruin our economy, but it was too little too late. The subprime bubble was already bursting and, try as they might, Harper and Flaherty couldn't quite get us in to the disaster.

They did their best by creating 40-year, no-money-down mortgages, but they had to cancel that offering when it became obvious how disastrous the long term effects were.

But make no mistake about it. Leaving Conservatives in charge of our economy is a disaster. They'll sell everything off so they can give tax cuts to wealthy people. They'll run up massive, unnecessary debt.

And if they had their way, they'd have dumped our economy straight in to the drain to create huge, fake economic booms for the sake of their banking friends.
